Life In Good Measure

It is about people, history and your own place on the map

Who Said That #45

Time for another great quote! This one is precise and to the point:

“Get busy living or get busy dying."

There is no time to waste for life is short, right? No matter how many lives we live. The choice - for all free people - is always there to make: whether to live, really live, the life that we were bestowed, and make the best out of it - minus the eventual lapses and mistakes that we all inevitably make. Or let life kind of just happen to you, and be like a standbyer, spectator of your own life - and see yourself stripped by your power and motivation - and not keep on kindling the sparks within but allow that fire within to be quenched, and gradually die altogether till there is hardly no glimmer left to see. A horrible thought, and no one wants that, but still it may happen, for stuff happen in life. And what can we do about it?

We can do a lot of course. We all know it. What ever suits your character and life condition. Things like mindfulness or yoga, or getting re-energized by walks in the nature, can be a great help in rekindling the fire within. Doing things together with others may be your thing. Falling in love is one great way to be and feel more alive. But all in all, it is all within you, all that you need is within you. You are the power to be, and no outside influence can ever determine how much more you can be. You can start practicing taekwondo at 75 and get the black belt at 82 for all we know. And we do know - A Finnish lady by the name of Salme Nummela did just that, after first driving her grandchildren for their taekwondo trainings, and finally agreeing to give it a go herself. Yes, it is never too late to get busy living!

But who was it again that said the above quotation? None other than the master writer from Portland, Maine. Author of horror, suspense, crime, fantasy and science-fiction novels, and described by many as the “King of Horror”, Mr. Stephen King ! Precise to the point!
