Who Said That! #29

Another great quote in our series Who Said That! A very current one these days with the ongoing idiosyncrasies of one Western politician, as opposed to those of a more accepted and honorable ways of behavior of one in a public office.

Do you know who said this:

“A statesman is he who thinks in the future generations, and a politician is he who thinks in the upcoming elections”.

There are politicians from all layers of society, with different backgrounds and varying abilities to handle the affairs of state or community. Some elected politicians remain in the politics for several terms even though it might be best for their fellowmen to have them handle the affairs of community or country for just one single term, or perhaps two. Then on the other hand there are those who truly commit themselves to improve the lives of their constituents, and really deserve their place. And the top positions (or why not even a lower one) may reveal a statesman. Or as we perhaps rather should say today, a statesperson.

But who said the above quote?

You might have guessedwho straight away from the profile picture above. Yeah, none other than Abraham Lincoln - a statesman personified.
