Peter, Paul and Mary was a popular American folk group active between 1961 and 2009. For many of us pretty unknown or just a distant reminder of the past. But as you watch them perform - albeit seemingly old-fashioned in style and tempo - the emotions you sense there are really no different from any age we live in. If you are feeling stressed and in need to slow down a bit, watching these three singing will do the trick.

The trio broke up in 1970 to pursue solo careers, but got back together in 1981, and continued to record albums together and also tour extensively. After Mary Travers' death in 2009, Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey continued as a duo. Here are the details of the three artists, followed by a couple of fancy videos.

1936-1109 Mary Travers* singer/songwriter - Louisville, Kentucky (2009/72) 1937-1230 Paul Stookey* singer/songwriter/guitarist - Baltimore, Maryland 1938-0531 Peter Yarrow* singer/songwriter/guitarist - Manhattan, New York (2025/86)

The first video is of the trio performing Bob Dylan’s Blowin' in the Wind. A song which Dylan wrote in 1962. Peter, Paul & Mary performing it here the year after. Peter singing as always in tenor, Paul in baritone and Mary in alto:

A few years later at their 25th Anniversary Concert - Where Have All the Flowers Gone, the Pete Seeger melody from 1955. You can almost feel how it would have been to sit there in the audience.
