Angelica keiskei aka 明日葉 ashitaba or “tomorrow’s leaf”
there is a plant called Ashitaba that might help you stay healthier and age slower? Mother Nature Network recently published an article about this miracle plant. It is well worth your time to read both the article and the Wikipedia page, and perhaps try planting it yourself in your backyard or balcony.
One fantastic thing about Ashitaba (which translates “tomorrow’s leaf”) is that it does so well in cold as well, is quick to recover and, like MNN writes, “a leaf cut off in the morning will start growing back the next day.” In the photo above you can see how a batch of leaves that has been cut off of a plant, a new set of leaves come sprouting out of the stump of the old ones.
If you think it looks pretty ordinary, you would be right for it belongs to the same family as Angelica sylvestris that grows wild in many parts of the world - a plant regarded by many as weed, but which also has medicinal properties. You can use Ashitaba to make tea, and it is good in both soups and salads.
